India Russian Oil Deal discussion
Russia has firmly rejected America’s claim that India has agreed to stop purchasing Russian oil. Moscow clarified that there has been no change in India’s decision regarding crude oil imports.

The clarification comes after statements from US officials suggested that discussions between Washington and New Delhi included reducing India’s dependence on Russian energy supplies.

What Did the US Claim?

White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt had reportedly stated that ongoing talks between the United States and India involved steps toward limiting Russian oil purchases.

According to her statement, such a move would strengthen America's economic interests and reduce India’s reliance on Russian crude amid global geopolitical tensions.

However, Russian authorities have dismissed these claims.

Russia’s Official Response

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated clearly that no official communication has been received from India regarding stopping oil imports.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also confirmed earlier that India continues to buy Russian oil and there are no new instructions to halt energy trade.

According to sources cited by international agencies, refineries in India have not received any directive from the government to suspend Russian crude purchases.

Why This Matters

India has significantly increased its Russian oil imports since Western sanctions were imposed on Moscow. Discounted crude has helped India manage fuel prices and maintain energy security.

Any major shift in oil trade policy would impact:

India’s energy costs

Global crude oil prices

US-India diplomatic relations

Russia’s export revenues

So far, there is no official indication of change from the Indian government.

What Happens Next?

Energy experts believe India will continue balancing its strategic partnerships with both the United States and Russia. While diplomatic talks continue, crude oil trade remains active.

Unless New Delhi issues an official statement, India’s Russian oil imports are expected to continue as usual.
